What is the New York State Affordable Housing Corporation?

The New York State Affordable Housing Corporation, or AHC, works to ensure that low- and moderate-income families are able to own their own homes. Homeownership rates among such groups tend to be low. The AHC helps to improve those numbers by gathering resources that have been appropriated by the State Legislature and using them to help pay for the construction of new homes and the renovation of existing ones. These homes are then sold for very affordable prices to low- and moderate-income families. The AHC awards grants to non-profits, local governments and others around New York, so families throughout the state benefit enormously from its work.
